Green
In April of
2008 EJ Engineering Group, Inc. & Echeverri Holdings, LLC relocated
to a new suite in the northwest valley. Mark A. Pagone and the
entire engineering consultant team designed this new
sustainable work environment. Mr. Pagone is the Principal Architect
and Owner of Pagone & Associates, an award winning architecture firm
based in the east valley.
We relocated
for a variety of reasons.
1. Our new suite is closer
to our homes.

Three of
our full-time employees have a shorter commute (2 ½ miles or
less). |

As an
aggregate, our full-time employees will now only drive 20% of
the daily commuter miles they previously did. 50-miles
roundtrip per day and nearly an hour on the road in each
direction were once commonplace. |
|
We know
that as fuel and automobile maintenance costs continue to rise
for us all, our employees will be better positioned than others
to positively deal with these financial obstacles.
|
2. By leaving a smaller
carbon footprint, we will all benefit.
|
We have incorporated
building products that use considerable recycled and/or green
materials including: carpet, tile, all rubber base, countertops,
base cabinets and upper cabinets and all but one of the front
office light fixtures. |

Our extensive use of day
lighting allows us to naturally illuminate the entire suite
nearly 100% of the time. We have utilized dual-pane reflective
glass, Mecho-Shadetm interior blinds, the latest
programmable thermostat technology, evaporative cooling and high
SEER rooftop heat pump units. Combined, these products allow us
to minimize the use of costly cooling while simultaneously
minimizing eye fatigue. |

We employ low-use water
closets and faucets. |
|
Paid-content access to
libraries, standards and codes in addition to various scanning,
software, hardware and high-speed Internet technologies allow us
to work in a near paperless environment. We print and plot less
allowing us to save considerably on ink and paper, which in turn
reduces damage to the environment. |
3. We also believe our new
office will encourage and promote healthier and more active
lifestyles for some of our employees.

A shower
has been provided to aid in this pursuit. |

EJ
Engineering Group employees have always had the opportunity to
utilize flextime; this will serve them well at our new location.

4. Finally, our employees
will have an improved sense of life, family and community.

An
employee that is more easily able to watch his or her child play
organized sports after school or quickly attend to a sick child
in the middle of the day is more appreciative of the firm and
generally more productive overall. |

An
employee that no longer contends with a long daily commute is
considerably safer and has a better lifestyle that is devoid of
traffic snarls and associated frustrations. |
|
Employees
feel good about their daily contributions to the community by
living a more eco-friendly lifestyle. |
